A while back some people asked me to do a tutorial with some SAI tips, hints or what not...
I'm not good at all at making these things, I think it may be a total mess

I tried my best to explain my way of working in SAI, I really hope I made it at least somewhat clear. This is kind of a tutorial on colouring the skin, but it can be applied to other things too of course.

Hopefully this will be at least a little bit useful to someone!

Why my quick selection tool can be used? When I want to select the hair, the tool selects all of the sheet. What's wrong with that?

By quick selection I assume you mean the Magic wand? If yes:

Check that the option below Detection Mode is set to Color Difference, set to a low number (like 3-5) and Target is set to All Image!

If this doesnt work you may need to check whether there are no gaps in the line

aemona, i think ur tutorial is quite more useful, heck yeah it helped for me a while. Is this gonna work for photoshop?

how do you fill in the color when i try to click onto my colour layer it won't fill none of the tools come up can you help ?

A few things that come to my mind:
1. Make sure if you have a selection you click inside it to fill in the colour.
2. If you are just working on a layer with no selection, just to make sure there isn't even a tiny selection anywhere click CTRL + D. This de-selects everything and your colour should start working.
3. Make sure the "transparent colour" box (the checkerboard one next to the colour squares!) is not selected. Same with the preserve opacity and clipping group tickboxes, if you are just filling the base colour in this could be the problem.

If you still have this problem, you could send me a screenshot from SAI and I will see if I can see the source of the problem! I hope this will help you
